Our Christmas 2009

I just realized that this month marked the 2 year anniversary of our little family blog. It's getting hard trying to keep it updated but I realize that Grandmothers rely on it to see what's happening in their grandchildren's lives, so I'll keep chugging along.
We had a great Christmas. It was Lilah's first year to really know what's going on and get excited about opening presents.
McGwire put out carrots for the reindeer and cookies for santa. He also treated Santa to smore snowmen this year...complete with a carrot sliver for a nose!

McG woke us up at about 2AM, excited to see that Santa had come. I was not a bit amused so we sent him off telling him to open his stocking but to leave everything else alone. Tim threw in a "don't let me see your face again 'til 6 o'clock"!!

When Tim woke up at six to put the turkey in the roaster, he found McG sound asleep on the couch next to the presents!

After his daddy had to wake HIM up, McG was excited to be able to wake everyone else up....except Lilah. We wanted to be able to get our stuff out of the way before we let the tiger out of her cage.

McG got lots of gifts. Movies, games, nintendo dsi, hockey gidgets and even a nerf shooter. All sorts of stuff.

He also got a BB gun,

Legos,

and a new hockey mask!

Brannon got his beloved sparkling grape juice,

a weird hat,

much needed socks and underwear,

a really cool pea coat, shirts and jeans,

a couple of movies and lots of other stuff.

After Lulu's traumatic visit to see Santa, we weren't too sure how she was going to react to the thought of him actually coming to her house, but she did pretty well.

Still sleepy.

She loves this present even before unwrapping it.
Inspecting the fine wrapping job.
She got llot's of stuff, including: fake food and dishes for her kitchen,

a cute teddy bear and pet fake hamsters,

an angel for her Christmas tree,

several puzzles and a couple of books
and a new baby doll!!

Later in the day, Lilah was seen loving on Daddy
(wearing one of Daddy's creations)

and playing on her new laptop.

Mac was surgically attatched to his new video game system,

Brannon was trying to escape his picture being taken,

and Tim watched his new movie on his christmas present!!

Me and Picky and Grampy got a few things as well this fine Christmas day but mananged to escape documentation from the camera!

Merry Christmas!

Nothing like a mall Santa to get you ready for Christmas morning,

I really did enjoy the bloody covered skulls shirt that Santa's helper had on...Nice and festive.

Mad sewing skillz

Lilah was in desparate need of a monogrammed stocking this year and I was not willing to pay for one so I improvised. I found a cute stocking on someone's blog and decided to try to duplicate this persons craftiness. I liked the way it turned out but would hate to have anyone look too closely at it because it looks a whole lot better from afar!

Here's last weeks Sunday pictures. I am not sure if we'll be able to do pictures this Sunday or not since Tim is recovering!

Christmas card picture preview

Tim took 90 pictures for our Christmas card and not one came out like I wanted. There are only 2 that weren't as bad as the other 88. Maybe next year will be better?

Good 'ol hockey game

Hockey season is in full swing. McG is on 2 teams again. Tim is coaching one team and assistant coaching the other team, plus he's the commissioner for the 12 and under league too. Me and Lilah are just fans of the goalie!

Both teams have won 3 games and lost a game.

Little sister loves to go to the hockey rink, but not to watch the game.

She mostly runs around like a mad woman and wallows around on the filthy floor trying to find scraps of popcorn and candy to eat!

It's beginning to look alot like Christmas

We put our Christmas decorations up last weekend but are still working on the outside. Tim says we will have everything done and all the storage boxes put away by tonight. Let's hope that dream becomes my reality!!
We got Lilah her own Christmas tree this year. I bought a few boxes of ball ornaments and one Santa ornament since she is obsessed with him. She calls him "HoHo".
I'll have a chance to buy more ornaments as the years go by, mostly at after-Christmas clearance sales! ;)

McGwire set his Christmas tree up all by himself.

Here's a few scenes from around the house.

Here's one of our 3 Nativity sets and the new Nativity picture that tim gave me as an early Christmas gift. It is huge and beautiful and will be staying up year round!

A few of my favorite ornaments.

This is our "Brannon" ornament. When Tim and I saw it, it reminded us of Brannon and his ridiculous hats! haha

Lastly, here's a picture of one of my non-Christmas $6 monogrammed pillows that I got last week. I only bought 2 because that's all I could find. And I had to scrape the bottom of the barrel to find those two. It was like winning the lottery...a true Christmas miracle! haha

Jukebox Hero

McG tried out for chorus this year and we were thrilled that he made it!!
He had his first performance last Monday. They sang along as the dance team performed
"The N*utcracker".

"Yeah, I'm in the chorus, baby!!"

Doing hair and make up!

Ready to go.

Not so funny story:
Tim decided that he wasn't going to get good pictures where we were sitting so he left me there to go to the side of the auditorium to film and take pictures. He left me sitting with some CRAZY lady, but that's a different story!!
Anywho, A little girl was standing on a chair in front of me but I didn't mind since I could tilt my head a certain way and see McG just fine. I could have sworn he was looking right at me several times and I would smile and wave or give him a "thumbs up" but he wouldn't react or smile back. It got me thinking that he couldn't see me. He definately could see Tim, though. Sure enough, he didn't see me and thought that I wasn't there. Isn't that terrible?? He just assumed that I stayed home with Lilah!!! That absolutely broke my heart!! We had to go out for ice cream just to make ourselves feel better!!! :)
