The most wonderful time....

We had a wonderful Christmas this year. McGwire's face was priceless when he saw that Santa had come. He and Tim met each other at the stairs around 5am. Tim was going to put the turkey in the oven and McGwire was going to check out his loot. McGwire got a TON of Lego's, a scooter, some video games and movies and a University of Alabama hat and hoodie (Roll Tide) and other knick knacks. The Legos kept him busy ALL DAY!

More Lego's!

Here's Lilah in her Santa gift. She slept straight through opening gifts (thank goodness). In fact, we all went back to bed for about 2 hours (except for McGwire, of course) and I had to actually wake her up at 9:30 to feed. That was her Christmas gift to me! Thank you Lilah! Lilah got all the baby essentials this year: bottles, rattles, blankets, books and toys.

Here's a picture of our tree. McGwire decorated it all by himself. I think he did a great job.

Here's one more picture of Lilah. She had a rough day. I had to work from 3p-11p and she cried most of the first part of my shift. Poor Picky (my mom) tried all of her tricks to try to make her happy but she only stops crying when her mommy picks her up. I have to admit, it was cute in the beginning but is quickly becoming quite annoying.

I am still working on learning how to blog. I am WAY too old to be trying to learn something new. I really just want to post pictures but can't find where Tim hid the pictures on his computer, so I will start by posting our family's Christmas letter. When I can get Tim to help me, I will post the picture that went along with the letter! :)

Dearest Friends & Family,

It’s truly amazing how time flies. It’s hard to believe that another year has passed by so quickly. Our year has been filled with lots of craziness but lots of happiness as well. Our family “theme” this past year was “Making home a heaven in 2007”. Well, I’m not sure how well we did with that, but an angel was sent from heaven to live with us in 2007. Little Lilah Kathryn Elizabeth Bird was born on August 31st. Can you believe that… at my age??? She is beautiful, of course, and is a very happy little girl. She is already sleeping through the night and that makes mommy very happy. Daddy hasn’t noticed that much, as he has been sleeping through the night since she was born. :) We have been begging and pleading with Heavenly Father for years to give us another child. This just proves that He does hear and answer our prayers, but He does it in His own time. We are so grateful.
McGwire will be 9 in January. He is growing up so fast. He is in cub scouts this year and absolutely loves it. He has already earned 12 belt buckles, 4 pins, the “World Conservation” patch and his Bobcat and Wolf rank. He and Tim spend a lot of time together working on all of the scout stuff. They seem to be having a great time with it. He keeps very busy playing football and soccer in the yard with his friends and playing with his legos in the house. He builds lots of really cool things with his legos. He does very well in school and is the best reader in his class, according to his teacher (I had to throw that in). He was baptized last January and he really enjoys primary. He keeps us laughing with his keen sense of humor. He wasn’t too thrilled about his new baby sister when she was first born, but he seems to be enjoying her a lot more now.
Tim changed jobs this year. The company he worked for sold to a national chain. He was lucky enough to get a job with a different company. He now works for Allgood Pest Solutions as a business analyst. He does a lot of IT with his new job, so he is loving life right now! He is the young men’s president at church. That’s all I’m going to say about that! :)
I am still working with Children’s Healthcare of Atlanta as a phone advice nurse. It’s been almost 11 years now and I have been so blessed to be able to work from home. I only work 20 hours a week with that job but my full time job is keeping the house clean and keeping everyone fed, clothed and happy. I was called into the primary presidency at church a few weeks before the baby was born. I’m having fun with that so far.
We sure are thankful during this season for our Saviors birth, but more importantly, His life and the most precious gifts He has given to us. We know He lives and loves each and every one of us. May you all be blessed with a happy, healthy New year and that “things will be great in 2008” (our new family theme)!!!! :)

Love,
The Birds’

And it starts...

I'm not going to "blog" much on this "blog" site... mainly because I have nothing much to say. This site is going to be a place for family and friends to come to catch up on the precious, perfect kids in our home (*cough, cough* *sputter*)!

Enjoy the show!
